Hi, I clicked on a free trial on excel a few days ago and it immediately charged on my apple pay. I already cancelled just now? But, how do I know if I will get a refund?

    Hello,

You need to request it from Apple, not Microsoft, because the payment processed via Apple.

    Microsoft explains it here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-get-a-refund-on-a-microsoft-subscription-67dca30b-b323-44d5-acc2-e02f9902c472

Apple's refund request instruction is here: https://support.apple.com/118223

Because the trial was started and charged through Apple (Apple Pay/App Store on macOS), the refund is handled by Apple, not Microsoft.

    Key points from the documentation:

    1. For Microsoft 365 subscriptions purchased from the Apple App Store, cancellation and refunds must be requested from Apple support, not from Microsoft.
    2. Cancelling the subscription stops future renewals, but it does not by itself guarantee a refund of the charge already made.
    3. To check or request a refund, use Apple’s own refund process (for example via Apple support or the “Report a Problem” site) and follow their policies.

If the subscription instead appears under your Microsoft account (purchased directly from Microsoft, not via Apple), then:

    1. Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/services with the same account used for purchase.
    2. Confirm the subscription is cancelled and check its end date.
    3. Use the refund flow described in the Microsoft article on how to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription to see if the charge is eligible for a refund.
