ESI (Enterprise Skills Initiative) is a Microsoft training and certification benefit for organizations that have a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA) with Software Assurance.

It provides employees with access to Microsoft learning resources, such as:

    • Role‑based training on Microsoft technologies (Azure, Microsoft 365, security, data, etc.)
    • Microsoft Learn content curated for enterprise roles
    • Exam preparation materials and certification resources
    • In some agreements, discounted or included certification exam vouchers

ESI is not a product, license, or security role, and it does not grant access to tenant data, admin permissions, or systems. It is limited to learning and certification content only.

Access to ESI is organization‑wide, not individual. Employees cannot enroll on their own; Microsoft must first enable the company’s email domain under the Enterprise Agreement. Many organizations are entitled to ESI without actively using it, which is why it is sometimes unfamiliar.

If the organization’s domain is enabled for ESI, employees can sign in at https://esi.microsoft.com using their corporate email address. If it is not enabled, access is denied.

In most companies, ESI is managed by licensing, HR, or learning & development teams rather than IT operations.
