A family of Microsoft presentation graphics products that offer tools for creating presentations and adding graphic effects like multimedia objects and special effects with text.
Hi @Tom Gardner,
Based on your description, I suspect that some PowerPoint playback settings like recorded timings, loop/kiosk mode, auto-animations, or non-linear navigation like custom shows or hidden slides, etc. make one slide may repeat sometimes. When you're presenting in Teams PowerPoint Live, there is also a possibility that attendees move around independently and then re-sync, which can make slides repeat.
To minimize the possibility that this issue may happen again, you can try these steps:
1/ Set the show to manual, non-looping
Go to Slide Show > Set Up Slide Show and check these settings:
- Show type is set to presented by a speaker (full screen), not kiosk mode.
- Advance slides set to Manually (or turn off Use Timings, if present) and ensure Loop continuously until Esc is unchecked.
2/ Remove auto‑advance from transitions
Select all slides, go to Transitions > Advance Slide:
- Check the option "On Mouse Click”
- Clear “After” so the slide doesn’t auto‑advance.
3/ Deeper check the repeat slides
- Open Animations > Animation Pane on those specific slides and verify object with multiple effects and set them to On Click if available to avoid unwanted repeat
4/ Check for hidden slides / custom shows / action buttons
- Go to Slide Show > Custom Slide Show for any custom show you may be accidentally starting, because custom shows intentionally run subsets of slides.
- Any hyperlinks / action buttons on agenda or menu slides that may jump to a custom show and then return.
- If possible, remove hidden slides since they remain in the file and can still be displayed during the presentation.
5/ For Teams PowerPoint Live and projector/second monitor presentation
- If attendees are roaming through the deck, use the Private view toggle so they can’t independently navigate.
- If you present to a projector/second monitor, the recommended approach is to use Slide Show > Use Presenter View and make sure Windows is using Extend with the correct presentation monitor selected.
