Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Dear @Anonymouseđ,
I hope youâre having a good day.
Thank you for sharing the screenshot and for explaining what youâve already tried.
Please note that this forum is not official Microsoft Support. Itâs a community where users help one another. I donât have access to your account, device, or network settings, but I can help explain whatâs most likely happening and guide you to the right next steps.
In simple terms, the âConnection timed outâ message means that Minecraft Education is able to start and attempt a multiplayer connection, but the connection never reaches the host or relay service before it times out. From experience, this usually isnât caused by the game itself, your account, or your device.
Even when normal internet access works and local antivirus or firewall checks look fine, Minecraft Education multiplayer depends on specific network traffic (including peerâtoâpeer/UDP communication). On school or managed networks, this traffic is often restricted by firewalls, proxies, or content filters. When that happens, the game just waits and eventually shows a timeout, exactly like in your screenshot.
If youâre on a school or organization network
Please contact your schoolâs IT or network administrator and let them know that Minecraft Education multiplayer is failing with a âConnection timed outâ error. They may need to check whether the network allows the required Minecraft Education traffic and endpoints.
If youâre unsure who your administrator is, this article may help: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?
If the issue continues, or if IT confirms the network is open
The correct next step is to contact Minecraft Education Support directly: Minecraft Education Support Center
From there, you can either: Post in the âI have a technical problemâ community section, or Use Submit a Request to open a support ticket for deeper troubleshooting
When contacting support, it helps to clearly mention:
- The exact error: âConnection timed outâ
- That the game launches and signs in successfully
- Whether youâre on a school network or home network
- That youâve already checked updates, firewall, and version compatibility
- This will help the support team focus on the network connectivity side right away.
I know itâs frustrating after youâve already checked so many things, but youâre on the right path. This is a common networkâlevel issue in Minecraft Education and involving IT and/or the Minecraft Education support team is the correct way forward.
I hope this information helps point you in the right direction. If you need further assistance, please donât hesitate to reach out again. Iâll do my best to support you however I can. Â
Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.Â
Warm regards,Â
