M365 Copilot on the web (Microsoft365.com / Office.com) follows the Microsoft 365 account display language and, in many cases, the browser’s language rather than the Windows desktop language. If the site keeps showing in the local language even after changing the Microsoft account language, the browser language settings must also be aligned.
To change the display language effectively:
- Change Microsoft 365 display language
- Sign in to Microsoft 365 with the work/school or personal account.
- Open Settings (gear icon) and choose the option to change language:
- If a Settings pane appears, select Change your language.
- If not, select Settings > Microsoft 365 settings, then the Settings tab.
- Under Display language, select English (United States) or another English variant.
- Save the changes and sign out/in if required.
- Ensure browser language is set to English and is the top preferred language
Copilot and other Power Platform / Microsoft 365 web experiences can use the browser’s default language. If another language is higher priority than English in the browser, the UI can still appear in that language even when the Microsoft account is set to English. Example (Chrome):
- Open browser settings.
- Go to the Languages section.
- Ensure English (United States) or the desired English variant is added and moved to the top of the preferred languages list.
- Enable the option to display the browser in that language (where applicable).
- Restart the browser and open M365 Copilot again.
- If no language option is visible in Microsoft 365 In some configurations, display language can only be changed by an administrator. If the language option is missing or locked, contact the Microsoft 365 administrator for the tenant to adjust the language settings.
Once both the Microsoft 365 display language and the browser’s preferred language are set to English, M365 Copilot web should display in English instead of the local language.
