    Hi,

    Via https://yourwindowsguide.com/2026/03/office-error-0x800704cf.html#gsc.tab=0

    1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    2. Type services.msc and hit Enter to open the Services window.
    3. Scroll down and find “Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant.” Right-click on it and select Restart.
    4. Next, locate “Microsoft Cloud Identity Service.” Right-click on it and select Restart.
    5. Open any Office app — Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or any other — and try signing in again. The 0x800704cf sign in error should be gone.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

Follow these steps in order to fix Microsoft Store sign‑in issues and error 0x800704cf on Windows 10:

    1. Reset the Microsoft Store cache
      1. Press Windows key + R.
      2. Type wsreset.exe and select OK.
      3. A blank Command Prompt window opens; after about 10 seconds it closes and Microsoft Store opens automatically.
      4. Try signing in again.
    2. Check basic causes if the app still fails If sign‑in or Store access still fails after wsreset:
      • Confirm the app or Store is available in the country/region configured in Windows.
      • Make sure Microsoft family settings are not blocking Store access or sign‑in.
      • Ensure the PC has been restarted after any recent Windows Updates.
      • Verify the PC is added and signed in with a Microsoft account as described in Add a device to your Microsoft account.
    3. Update Windows and Microsoft Store (Windows 10)
      1. Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates and install any available updates.
      2. Open Microsoft Store from Start.
      3. In Store, select See more (three dots) > Downloads and updates > Get updates and let Store update itself and other apps.
      4. Close and reopen Microsoft Store and try to sign in again.
    4. Check Microsoft Store services
      1. Press Windows key + S, type services.msc, and open Services.
      2. Find Microsoft Store Install Service.
      3. If Status is Disabled or empty:
        • Double‑click it, set Startup type to Automatic.
        • Select Start, then OK.
      4. If it is Running, right‑click and select Restart.
      5. Try Microsoft Store again.
    5. Run Windows network troubleshooting (for 0x800704cf)
      1. Select Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
      2. Scroll down and select Network troubleshooter.
      3. Follow the on‑screen steps and apply any fixes.
    6. Reset network components (if Store still reports connection issues)
      1. Select Search on the taskbar, type Command Prompt, then choose Run as administrator > Yes.
      2. Run these commands in order, pressing Enter after each:
        • netsh winsock reset
        • netsh int ip reset
        • ipconfig /release
        • ipconfig /renew
        • ipconfig /flushdns
      3. Restart the PC and test Microsoft Store sign‑in again.
    7. Use Network reset as a last resort Network reset removes and reinstalls all network adapters and resets their settings to defaults.
      1. Select Start > Settings > Network & Internet.
      2. On Windows 10, select Status > Network reset.
      3. On the Network reset screen, select Reset now > Yes.
      4. The PC restarts; then test Microsoft Store again.
      5. Afterward, reconfigure any VPN clients or virtual switches if used, and change any network profiles from Public to Private if needed.

If the error persists after all of the above, collect details (exact error text, when it appears, and recent updates) and use the guidance in Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store to continue troubleshooting or contact support.
