I am unable to ensure that Focus Assist stays off. I do not use this feature and it prevents Quick Share from being used.

    Hi!

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

The Focus Assist feature, which is currently named "Do Not Disturb," can turn back on automatically due to certain settings. To avoid this, you need to stop the toggle as well as the triggers.

First, turn it OFF by going to Settings > System > Notifications and toggle Do Not Disturb to OFF. Next, you need to disable the the auto rules (this will trigger it back).

Still in Settings → System → Notifications

    • Click - Turn on Do Not Disturb automatically
    • Turn OFF everything, especially:
      • During these times
      • When duplicating your display
      • When playing a game
      • When using an app in full screen
      • After a Windows feature update

Reminder: If even one of these is ON, it will come back

After checking all the settings, test it again. Let me know once done so I can assist you further.

To keep Focus Assist (and related “do not disturb” behavior) effectively off in Windows 11 Pro, disable all automatic triggers and ensure notifications are allowed.

    1. Open Focus/Notifications settings
      1. Open the Settings app.
      2. Go to System > Notifications.
    2. Turn off “do not disturb” automatic rules
      1. Under Do not disturb, expand Turn on do not disturb automatically.
      2. Clear all conditions so they never turn on automatically:
        • Turn off During certain time of the day.
        • Turn off When duplicating the display.
        • Turn off When playing a game.
        • Turn off When using an app in full-screen mode.
        • Turn off For the first hour after a Windows feature update. This prevents Windows from silently enabling a Focus/Do not disturb state that can interfere with features like Quick Share.
    3. Ensure priority notifications are not over‑restrictive
      1. Still in System > Notifications, select Set priority notifications.
      2. Under Calls and reminders, adjust checkboxes so calls/reminders are allowed if desired.
      3. Under Apps, either:
        • Do not add apps (so they are not silently blocked), or
        • Explicitly add apps that must always be allowed while any focus mode is on.
    4. Manually verify Focus/Do not disturb is off
      1. Open the notification center (click the clock/notification area on the taskbar).
      2. If the bell icon with zZ is highlighted, select it once to turn do not disturb off.
      3. Confirm notifications now appear normally.

With all automatic rules disabled and do not disturb turned off, Windows will no longer automatically enable Focus/Do not disturb, so Focus Assist–style suppression should not recur and Quick Share should remain usable.
