Regarding Renewal of Azure Developer Associate - AZ 204 Certification

I appeared for the certification exam on 27th July 2024, successfully cleared it, and received the certificate.

The certification is valid for one year, after which it needs to be renewed. Last year on 2025, I renewed the certification, and its validity was extended until 28th July 2026.

However, this year, my profile does not show any option to renew the certification further for 2027.

Could you please assist me with this issue?

    Hi Archana,

If you sign in with the Microsoft account associated with your certifications and navigate directly to the Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204) renewal page, are you able to scroll down and take assessment? Below is link:

Please click Accept Answer if above was useful.

    Thanks.

For the Azure Developer Associate certification (AZ-204), renewal is only available within a specific window and only via the online renewal assessment on Microsoft Learn.

Key points relevant to this situation:

    1. Role-based certifications like Azure Developer Associate are valid for one year from the date all requirements are completed.
    2. To prevent expiration, the certification must be renewed before the expiration date. After it expires, it cannot be renewed and must be re-earned by passing the required exam(s).
    3. The free online renewal assessment becomes available six months before the certification’s expiration date and is not available earlier.
    4. The only way to renew is by passing this renewal assessment; retaking the original exam or other paths do not count as renewal.

Given that the current expiration date shown is 28 July 2026 and there is no Renew button:

    • Confirm the expiration date and status in the Learn profile:
      • Sign in to Microsoft Learn.
      • Select the avatar → ProfileCertifications.
      • Locate Azure Developer Associate and check:
        • The listed expiration date.
        • Whether a blue Renew button appears.
    • If the certification is still active and within six months of expiry (i.e., after late January 2026) but no Renew option appears, this indicates an account- or profile-specific issue that requires support to investigate.

Because forum support cannot change renewal eligibility, the next step is to open a ticket with Microsoft Credentials Support so they can:

    • Verify the certification status and expiration date.
    • Confirm whether a renewal assessment is available for this certification in the account.
    • Correct any profile or account linkage issues preventing the Renew option from appearing.

Use the Microsoft Credentials Support channel referenced in the context to submit a support request and include:

    • Certification name: Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204).
    • Dates of original pass (27 July 2024) and last renewal (extended to 28 July 2026).
    • Screenshots of the Certifications page showing the missing Renew button.

If support confirms that the certification has already expired, renewal will no longer be possible and the certification must be re-earned by passing the current required exam(s).
