How can the microsoft feed feature be disabled organization wide It can be confusing to users and can lead to unwanted situations even with accessible documents. Please tell me how I can turn off the microsoft feed feature across my organization.

Appears that MS is asking tenant admins to open a service request to have this feature turned off. Also says this is temporary, which leads me to assume that a future update might re-enable this. Absolutely ridiculous.

And then there's the issue of the Learn site once again disappointing...why is it this site is more wrong than right? I just submitted said request through each of our 3 tenants and was provided conflicting responses in each...

1: can't do it.

2: Follow these instructions (which was the URL indicating "open a service request").

3: Call tech support.

What a complete joke!

Opened a Sev A ticket to have Feed disabled four days ago and it's still not done. If you want to turn it off understand it will take a long time so plan appropriately.

there are tools for this but in the end MS becomes unusable for serious work. We will have to go linux.. it is outrageous that win professional gives you links by microsoft to fishing sites and ads for chinese crypto in your main menu.

I'll second the question. We now have users who can access sensitive documents because of this unfortunate feature.

Same issue. We rely on audit to ensure that users don't look at documents that contain sensitive information (healthcare - only allowed to look if you are part of patient circle of care). Now this feature is broadcasting sensitive health information to all users in the group.

Same from my side. This is very serious for us so I am investigating moving to Google workplace if this is not solved by Microsoft. It should be possible for admins to shut down feeds completely.

The documents that are surfaced are documents to which users already have access, whether through SharePoint or OneDrive permissions, right? My Feed will not surface a document to which a user does not have access, so it speaks to a wider issue really. Can understand some tenants may not want to be bothered with fixing SPO permissions across a huge number of sites potentially though.

To understand you need to understand how healthcare works. There are hundreds of people in a hospital who might need access to your record, but they are not allowed to access your record unless they are directly providing you care. To overly restrict document access you risk negatively impacting patient care in urgent situations. We use native audit functions to ensure that files are only opened by appropriate persons.

By surfacing the content of the document, the Feed feature is inadvertently breaching personal health information to a broad audience and we lose ability to control and audit viewing.
We have a stop-gap workaround in place - adding a 3 line disclaimer to the top of any documents containing PHI (most are templated anyway) which is all that displays on the tile. Not elegant, but it works.

This right here is why this needs to be addressed.

Currently I'm using the reasoning if they have access to it and we can print a audit on a user to show they're accessing the file then we are clear of breaches. However, the surface information on file changes coming as a notification in the feed is impossible to monitor who has read this information.

This absolutely needs to be addressed.
