I am trying to remove personal information from a Word for Mac document (via a Microsoft 365 subscription). Help advises me to find/use the Document Inspector, but the means of finding it do not exist on my program. (File / INFO).

How do I remove personal info from a Word document in this version?

Click Tools on the main menu bar and then click Protect Document. You should find the option to remove personal info there.

In Word for Mac (Microsoft 365, including version 16.108.1), Document Inspector is not available. Personal information and other properties must be reviewed and edited manually.

Use these steps in Word for Mac:

    1. Open the document.
    2. On the menu bar, select File > Properties.
    3. In the Summary tab, review and clear or overwrite any personal fields (for example, Author, Manager, Company, Last saved by, etc.).
    4. To review additional metadata, select the Custom tab.
      • Select each custom property that contains personal or sensitive information.
      • Choose Delete to remove it, or edit the Value field and select Add to update it.
    5. Save the document.

This removes or replaces the personal information stored in the document’s properties on Word for Mac.
