    Hi! Let me help you.

Did the slowdown begin recently or has it been gradual?

Did it start after installing a program, update, or driver?

Does the lag happen all the time or only when certain apps are open?

Several things can cause severe lag and “type delay” in Windows 11. Work through these steps in order and test after each:

    1. Install Windows and driver updates
    • Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
    • Install all available updates.
    • Then select View optional updates and install any driver updates.
    • Restart the PC.
    1. Scan for malware Malware can consume CPU and disk and cause typing and UI lag.
    • Select Start > Settings > Update & security.
    • Select Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.
    • Under Current threats, choose Quick scan and let it complete.
    1. Reduce background load
    • Close unused apps and browser tabs, especially if many are open.
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager and end unnecessary apps using high CPU, memory, or disk (leave Windows/system processes alone).
    1. Turn off heavy visual effects
    • Open Search and type Performance Information and Tools.
    • Select Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.
    • On the Visual Effects tab, select Adjust for best performance, then OK.
    1. Check disk for errors
    • Open Search, type computer, then select This PC.
    • Right‑click the system drive (usually C:), select Properties.
    • Go to the Tools tab and under Error checking select Check.
    • Let it complete; restart if prompted.
    1. Optimize (defragment) the drive (if using HDD)
    • Open This PC again.
    • Right‑click the system drive > Properties > Tools.
    • Under Optimize and defragment drive, select Optimize.
    • Select the system drive and choose Optimize.
    1. Remove extra antivirus/antispyware tools Running more than one real‑time security product can slow everything down.
    • Open Search, type appwiz.cpl, select Appwiz.cpl.
    • Uninstall any extra Internet security/antivirus programs so only one remains.
    • Restart the PC.

If the system still freezes or becomes unresponsive (mouse and keyboard stop responding), force a restart:

    • Hold the power button down until the device turns off and restarts, then release when the Windows logo appears.

If these steps improve performance only slightly or not at all, repeat the malware scan and consider removing recently installed apps that coincide with when the lag started.
