    Hi there,

Thank you for posting your question here!

When YouTube works but Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming services do not, the issue is usually not the device itself. Most of those services use something called DRM protection, which can be blocked by browser settings, extensions, or graphics drivers, while YouTube does not use the same restriction.

Start by checking which browser you are using. If you are on Firefox, try Edge or Chrome. If you are already on Edge or Chrome, go into the browser settings, open Privacy and Security, and make sure the option to allow protected or DRM content is turned on. Next, temporarily disable all browser extensions, especially ad blockers, VPNs, or privacy tools, then try streaming again. These commonly block video playback.

Let me know if this resolves your issue. To help the Community and guide others with the same concern please let us know if this reply solved your problem by clicking Yes or No below.

    Best Regards,

Streaming services like Netflix and Hulu use protected (DRM) video playback, which can fail even when Windows is fully updated. The behavior described matches known issues caused by video or audio driver problems or DRM incompatibility.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Install all Important Windows updates
    • Open Settings > Windows Update.
    • Select Check for updates and install all Important updates.
    • Restart the PC and test Netflix/Hulu again.
    1. Update the video driver (graphics card) DRM playback often fails if the video driver is outdated or not fully compatible.
    • Press Windows key + R, type dxdiag, and press Enter.
    • Go to the Display tab and note the Name and Manufacturer of the video card.
    • Go to the video card or PC manufacturer’s website and download the latest Microsoft WHQL-certified driver for Windows.
    • Install the driver, restart the PC, and test the streaming apps again.
    1. Check for DRM-related limitations Some video cards or external/USB display adapters do not support DRM-protected playback correctly, especially on secondary monitors. If using:
    • A USB video adapter, docking station, or second monitor, try disconnecting it and playing Netflix/Hulu directly on the laptop’s built-in screen.
    1. If using Microsoft Store apps for streaming If Netflix or other services are installed as Microsoft Store apps and still fail after updating Windows and drivers, ensure all Store app updates are installed and that the graphics driver is the latest WHQL-certified version as above.

If the issue persists after these steps, contact the PC or graphics card manufacturer with details of the video card model and the streaming services that fail.
