On a Lenovo laptop, options 1 and 2 are the most likely cause of the problem.

Look at the function keys (F1 - F12) on your keyboard, if one of them has a camera icon, press that key or Fn + that key to unlock the webcam.

If that was not the problem, look at the camera lens above your screen, is there a small privacy slider that needs to be opened to access the webcam?

Right click your Start Button and open Device Manager.

Expand the Cameras section.

On many Lenovo laptops running Windows 11, the internal camera can be turned off either by a physical control on the device or by a Windows setting. Use these steps in order:

1. Check for a physical camera switch or shutter
   • Look around the camera lens at the top of the screen for a small slider that covers/uncovers the camera.
   • Move the slider so the camera lens is visible (not covered).
2. Check keyboard camera key
   • Look at the function keys (F1–F12) for a key with a camera icon.
   • Press that key, or press Fn + that key, to enable the camera.
3. Make sure the camera is enabled in Windows 11
   • Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Cameras (or use this shortcut: Open Bluetooth & devices > Cameras).
   • Under Disabled cameras, select the internal camera and choose Enable.
   • If there is no Disabled cameras section, Windows does not see any disabled cameras.
4. Test with the Windows Camera app
   • Open the Camera app:
     • Right-click Start > Search.
     • Type camera and select the Camera app under Best match.
   • If the camera works here, it is on and working; if not, follow any prompts or errors shown.

If the camera still does not appear or shows a black image after these steps, check Lenovo’s support site for the correct Windows 11 camera driver for the specific model and reinstall it.
