MS Teams Premium takes key functions of the basic away!

I'm completely confounded that through upgrading to MS Teams Premium I can no longer copy tasks from one plan to another and can't sort tasks in grid view. Why would Microsoft remove functionality with a premium subscription? I've only just upgraded but am quite disappointed and don't think the benefits will outweigh the disadvantages of losing basic functionality. So not really a question but have wondered if others are feeling the same?

    Dear @ED,

To ensure the issue is captured by the engineering team, I recommend submitting feedback. Microsoft places a strong emphasis on customer experience, and all feedback shared by users is taken seriously. Every comment matters, and product teams actively review customer input to help guide future decisions and improvements.

That said, as a Microsoft Q&A forum moderator, I am not involved in product design decisions and don’t have visibility into or influence over the product development roadmap. While I understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, please know that your feedback is both acknowledged and valued.

To ensure your request reaches the appropriate engineering team, I highly recommend submitting your idea through Microsoft Ideas · Community, which is the official feedback channel reviewed by Microsoft’s engineering and product teams. If multiple customers raise the same idea, it may increase the likelihood of consideration for future updates.

    How to submit your feedback:

    1. Visit Microsoft Ideas · Community
    2. Select Send Feedback
    3. Share your idea and describe how it would improve your experience

Once submitted, your feedback will be reviewed by the relevant engineering teams and may be considered for inclusion in future product enhancements.

Please rest assured that you’re not alone in requesting this type of functionality. I’ll continue to monitor related discussions, and if any updates or announcements are made regarding this feature, I’ll be happy to share them with the community.

In addition, you can also raise a feedback directly from within Teams: Go to Settings and more (three dots next to account icon) > Feedback > Report a problem

Premium plans in Planner (used in Microsoft Teams) are built on the Project for the web platform and currently do not have full feature parity with basic Planner plans.

The available documentation explicitly notes that:

    • There are capabilities available in basic plans that are not yet available in premium plans. A specific example given is recurring tasks, which require staying on basic plans until that feature exists in premium.
    • When a basic plan is upgraded to a premium plan, a new premium plan is created with the data from the basic plan, and the original basic plan becomes read‑only and is archived for 90 days. During that period, teams can choose to downgrade back to the basic plan if they need functionality that only exists there.
    • If a team downgrades from premium back to basic, the plan is restored to the state it was in at the time of upgrade, and any edits made in the premium plan must be manually copied back.
    • Applications and workflows built for basic plans often need modification to work with premium plans.

This design means some “everyday” actions that are familiar in basic Planner (like certain task operations and views) may not behave the same way or may not yet exist in premium. The guidance from Microsoft is that teams who rely on features only available in basic plans should either:

    1. Stay on basic plans, or
    2. If already upgraded, use the 90‑day window to downgrade back to a basic plan so that those capabilities are restored.

If the missing capabilities are critical to the workflow, downgrading the plan back to basic is the supported way to regain them while Microsoft continues to evolve premium features.
