Hello,

It has been almost a year since my Outlook account was suddenly blocked. It says that they have detected unusual activity, even though I already put the correct phone number to recover my account. I have been trying to complete as many of the account recovery forms as possible, including entering the correct bank details when I bought the Outlook subscription, but my attempts have failed. The most frustrating one is that no feature that can provide live support for this issue. Can anyone help me? I really need to restore my account and file, please.

Thanks in advance and look forward to getting my account back!

    Hello Grace Endina

Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with this for so long, I understand how discouraging and frustrating this is, especially after trying multiple recovery attempts and still not being able to regain access.

Have you tried the Q&A Assist steps? Just to confirm, are you receiving the same response that the information is not sufficient to verify ownership?

Here's what you can try next:

1, Wait 24-48 hours before trying again

Multiple attempts trigger additional security blocks. Please stop all attempts for at least 24 hours then try again on a different browser/ device/ network.

2, Fill out the Microsoft Account Recovery form (ACSR) one more time with maximum details

Submitting the recovery form again will only help if you can add new or more accurate information (for example, exact recent subject lines, frequent contacts, or older passwords). Re‑submitting the same details will not change the outcome.

    • Go to: https://account.live.com/acsr
    • Enter the locked-out email and an alternate email where Microsoft can contact you.
    • Provide as many accurate details as possible, such as old passwords, frequent contacts/subject lines and submit from a familiar device/location.
    • Wait 24–72 hours for a response. You may refine and resubmit up to twice per day.
    • Please see this official guide to help you fill out the form more accurately: Help with the Microsoft account recovery form - Microsoft Support

    3, Contact Microsoft Support

You can also try to contact Microsoft Support directly for further assistance:

    • Sign in with any personal account at:  Contact Us - Microsoft Support
    • Select the product or service you're having issue with. (For example: Microsoft Office)

    • Click Get Home Support

    • Type a brief description of your issue in the search box.
    • Click Get Help and Select Contact Support below.

    • Go to the Products and services tab, and choose either Microsoft 365 and Office category or Other Products
    • On the Category tab, choose Manage My Subscription or other alternatives.
    • Go to Confirm.

    • Look for and select "Chat with a support agent in your web browser" (during business hours). Explain your situation clearly.

Please kindly note that this is a public user-to-user forum, I do not have the ability, tools to unblock, recover accounts or bypass security. Only Microsoft’s official recovery process can restore access.

For reference, you can see: Microsoft account has been locked

I truly appreciate your patience and understanding.

  2. Q&A Assist

Because the automated checks have not yet been able to verify ownership, recovery must follow Microsoft’s standard self‑service and recovery‑form process. There is no alternate manual override for consumer Outlook.com/Microsoft accounts.

Follow these steps end to end:

    1. Try the Sign‑in Helper first
Use the Sign‑in Helper tool to see if the account can be unblocked or signed in using standard verification options before using the long recovery form.
      Sign-in Helper
    2. If the account is blocked for unusual activity
When sign‑in shows that the Microsoft account is locked and there is no Next button, follow the aka.ms link shown on the page to submit the requested information. This sends the case to Microsoft Online Safety for review. Only after that form is submitted can support agents send reset links or change account details.
    3. Use the Microsoft account recovery form correctly
Since previous forms were rejected, follow the official guidance to improve the chances:
      • Ensure there is a working alternate email address that can receive messages about the recovery request (it can be a friend’s or a new Outlook.com address).
      • From a device and location that were regularly used with the blocked account, open the recovery form and:
        • Answer every question possible, even if some answers are best guesses.
        • Provide details for services used with the account (Outlook.com, Skype, Xbox, etc.).
        • For Outlook.com specifically, provide:
          • Exact subject lines of recent messages sent.
          • Email addresses of frequent contacts.
          • The correct domain of the address (for example, @outlook.com vs @outlook.co.uk).
        • List as many old passwords as can be remembered.
      • Submit only up to the allowed number of forms per day and wait for the email decision for each submission before trying again.
    4. If the password or username is not accepted
Use the standard “Recover your account” flow at account.live.com/password/reset (linked from the article) and follow the steps to receive a security code and set a new password. Ensure the correct email domain and spelling are used; if the primary alias is unknown, try any other alias or phone number that was ever added to the account.
    5. If Outlook.com specifically is blocked
Use the Unblock my Outlook.com account flow via the Sign-in Helper. If unblocking still fails after entering codes or changing the password, follow the guidance in When you can't sign in to your Microsoft account from that article to continue troubleshooting or contact support from there.
    6. When recovery continues to fail
For consumer accounts, if the recovery form and Sign‑in Helper cannot verify ownership and security info has effectively been lost or replaced, there is no other supported method to regain access. Support agents cannot bypass these automated checks or manually grant access without a successful recovery‑form validation.

Given the rejection email shown, the practical next step is to carefully re‑submit the recovery form using the detailed guidance above (especially exact recent subject lines, contacts, and old passwords) from a familiar device and network, and wait for the review result for each submission.
