I bought this keyboard more than 10 years ago from Amazon US. The battery is dead and I want to replace it.

Hello Chet, good day and thanks for your question. I understand that you have a Microsoft Universal Mobile Keyboard and it's battery is not working anymore.

For a product that is 10 years old, the parts of it including the battery is already or if not phased out and it will be a rare find to be able to get one and you can consider and look at other options like purchasing a new Microsoft keyboard if there is still bundles or stocks available within nearby tech stores/shops or you can also have a look at other brands depending on your preference.

The Microsoft Universal Mobile Keyboard is listed as a Microsoft accessory that can be replaced under warranty procedures, but the context does not provide battery specifications or replacement instructions for this specific model.

To proceed, follow the official accessory replacement path if a hardware/battery issue is suspected:

    1. Check whether the device is covered under the Microsoft PC accessory warranty and request a replacement if eligible, following the documented process for Microsoft PC accessories.
    2. If the keyboard is out of warranty (likely after 10+ years), replacement of the entire accessory rather than the internal battery is the supported path in the provided documentation.
