Hi Joel Craycroft001,
This honestly sounds very likely related to the newer Administrator Protection/UAC hardening behavior in the latest Insider builds rather than SteelSeries GG specifically breaking on its own.
Since you mentioned it only happens:
- after credential elevation
and only with Administrator Protection enabled
the app may be failing during:
elevated process spawning
driver/service initialization
or protected token handling
under the newer Windows 11 25H2 security model.
A few things worth trying:
Disable “Run as administrator” If SteelSeries GG or one of its helper executables is forced to:
Run this program as administrator
try disabling that compatibility setting first.
Test with Administrator Protection OFF temporarily If the app launches normally afterward, that helps confirm the issue is specifically tied to the new protection model.
Reinstall SteelSeries GG completely Including removal of:
SteelSeries services
device drivers
leftover AppData folders
because older components may not yet be compatible with Insider security changes.
Check Event Viewer Look under:
Windows Logs
Application
Security
for:
app crashes
token elevation failures
blocked DLLs
Smart App Control
or WDAC-related events
Since you are on an Insider build This may simply be an unresolved compatibility issue between:
Build 26300.8376 and
SteelSeries GG privilege/elevation behavior
especially because Administrator Protection is still evolving in Insider channels.
Honestly, filing Feedback Hub reports like you already did is probably the correct path here because both Microsoft and SteelSeries may need to adjust compatibility handling.
Hopefully either a future Insider build or SteelSeries GG update resolves the launch issue properly.
