Hello David Holbrook,

The daily message limit helps us free the world from spammers--we're sorry that it's getting in your way.

Thanks, The Outlook.com Team

I received this message from you at 15.22 yesterday (Sunday 10th May 2026) and now every email I send comes back 'undeliverable'. how long do I have to wait before I can use this email again.

Thanks

Dave Holbrook

    Hi Dave,

Your account has most likely hit the Outlook.com daily sending limit temporarily. When that happens, outgoing mail is blocked for a cooling-off period to help prevent spam activity.

In most cases, sending ability returns automatically within 24 hours, though sometimes it can take up to 48 hours depending on account activity and reputation checks.

A few things you can try:

    • Wait without sending repeated test emails
    • Sign out and back in to Outlook
    • Verify your account security activity: https://account.microsoft.com/security
    • Remove any unusual forwarding rules or connected apps
    • Change your password if there is any chance the account was compromised

    Microsoft information: https://support.microsoft.com/office/outlook-com-sending-limits

If the block continues beyond 48 hours, you will likely need Microsoft Support to review the account status.

    Best wishes,
