Hey Kris – it sounds like your Azure DevOps organization (ID 202439e6-1c89-4287-9633-a97c72e92560) is now “orphaned” because the last admin left the company. You can regain access by transferring ownership to an active Azure AD user. Here’s how:

    1. Confirm your org’s identity backend
      • Sign in at https://dev.azure.com/<yourOrg> (using any company account) and go to Organization settings > Azure Active Directory.
      • If you see your Azure AD tenant listed, it’s Entra ID–backed. If not, it’s a Microsoft account (MSA)–backed org.
    2. If it’s Entra ID–backed
      1. Make sure you have an Azure AD Global Administrator or the Azure DevOps Administrator role in that tenant.
      2. Follow the self-service “orphaned organization” flow to claim ownership.
      3. You’ll need:
        • The organization ID
        • The UPN of the user you want to make the new owner
        • Confirmation that the old owner and all PCAs are inactive in your tenant
      d. After claiming ownership, go to Organization settings > Users to add or re-assign any other team members.
    3. If it’s MSA-backed
      • Please share below information in Private messages.
      • ADO Org name and URL
      • Old admin id
      • New admin id

Hope that helps you reclaim admin access!

    Hello Kris !

Thank you for posting on MS Learn Q&A.

Paying for the Azure DevOps organization through your company subscription does not automatically give you access to the Azure DevOps org. Azure DevOps organization ownership or admin access is managed separately from Azure subscription billing.

Check whether any current employee is a project collection admin and if yes, they can go to: https://dev.azure.com/{organization} then org settings then overview then change owner.

If the old owner and all project collection admin are inactive the org is considered orphaned and if the org is connected to Microsoft Entra ID you can ask your tenant Azure DevOps admin to sign in and use claim ownership or change owner.

If nobody can access the organization, open a Azure support request for organization ownership recovery.
