This is not a question as I could not find a way to post this as a helpful instructional work-around.

If any of you are like me then after you get Windows 10 Edge updates it automatically changes the default search engine to Bing for some reason. I personally never trusted Bing but that's a personal issue. Here is my work-around / fix.

1: Open a new browser tab.

2: Click the 3 dots in the top right hand corner of the page screen ( will be just under the 'X' close windows icon ).

3: Scroll down and select 'Settings' then on the left is a list of options. Select 'Privacy, search and services'.

4: At the bottom of that opened tab click the option 'Search and connected experiences'.

5: Again at the bottom of this new opened tab click the option 'Address bar and search'.

6: At the top of this opened tab you will see the heading 'Search engine used in the address bar' and on the right of it a drop-down tab. Click the tab to select the browser you wish to set as default. i.e. it was set to Bing but then I changed it to Google.

Additionally you can delete Bing altogether from the search engine listings by clicking on 'Search engines' in the same tab of the last step and click on the 3 dots on the right of each one and select 'Remove'.

Hope this helps!

To change the default search engine back from Bing in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 and stop using Bing in the address bar:

    1. Open Microsoft Edge.
    2. Select Settings and more () in the top-right corner, then select Settings.
    3. Select Privacy, search, and services.
    4. Scroll down and select Search and connected experiences (or Search and connected services, depending on version).
    5. Select Address bar and search.
    6. Under Search engine used in the address bar, open the dropdown and choose the preferred search engine (for example, Google).

If the preferred search engine does not appear, first perform a search with that engine in the address bar so Edge can detect it, then repeat the steps above and select it from the list.

If an extension changed the search engine to Bing or something else, optionally disable or remove that extension:

    1. Select the Extensions icon (puzzle piece) next to the address bar and choose Manage extensions.
    2. Disable or remove any extension that changes search or browser settings unexpectedly.
