The 'Disc Soft Bus Not Running' error is not a Windows error, that error is generated by the Daemon Tools Lite utility, that software is used create, mount, and manage virtual disc drives and disk images like ISO files.

Completely uninstall Daemon Tools Lite, then restart (not shut down) your PC and test if that resolves the error, and if you do actually need to use that utility, download and install the latest available version of Daemon Tools Lite from the developers website.

The message likely indicates a problem reading from the game disc or the CD/DVD drive rather than Daemon Tools itself. Use these steps to isolate and fix the issue:

    1. Clean the game disc
      • Remove the disc and clean the shiny side with a soft, lint‑free cotton cloth.
      • Wipe from the center of the disc straight outward (not in circles).
      • If needed, lightly dampen the cloth with water or a CD/DVD cleaning solution, then dry thoroughly.
    2. Test whether the disc can be read (Xcopy test)
      • Insert the game disc. If setup starts, close it.
      • Press the Windows logo key, type cmd, and press Enter.
      • In Command Prompt, run:
             cd\
             Xcopy D:\*. * /s C:\text.txt

Replace D: with the actual letter of the CD/DVD drive.
      • When asked whether C:\text.txt is a file or directory, choose F for file, then A for All.
      • If Xcopy reports files that cannot be read, the disc may be dirty, damaged, or corrupted.
    3. Try a different CD/DVD drive
      • If possible, insert the same disc into another CD/DVD drive (on the same PC or a different PC) and try installing/starting the game.
      • If it works on another drive, the original drive may be failing.
      • If it fails on all drives, the disc is likely bad and may need replacement.
    4. Check the hard disk for errors
      • Open StartComputer (or This PC).
      • Right‑click the system drive (usually C:) → Properties.
      • Go to the Tools tab → under Error‑checking, select Check Now.
      • Enable Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.
      • Click Start and allow Windows to check and repair disk errors.
    5. If the CD/DVD drive itself is not recognized
      • Open Device Manager (Windows logo key → type Device Manager → Enter).
      • Expand DVD/CD‑ROM drives.
      • Right‑click the CD/DVD device → Uninstall device → confirm.
      • Restart the PC so Windows reinstalls the driver automatically.
      • If the problem persists, in Device Manager enable View → Show hidden devices, then under IDE/ATAPI controllers uninstall the listed ATA channels and the Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller, then reboot so Windows reinstalls them.

If, after these steps, the disc still cannot be read but other discs work fine, the game disc is likely damaged and may need replacement.
