If the hardware is capable of using DX12 then the graphics drivers will make it available.

When you open DX Diag what as the Feature levels available in the Drivers section.

    Hi,

Are you having any problems with a specific game?

What are your desktop specs or laptop model?

    Thanks

On Windows 10, DirectX 12 is not installed as a separate download. It is built into the operating system and updated only through Windows Update.

For Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016:

    • DirectX 11.3 and 12 are included with these Windows versions.
    • Updates are delivered via Windows Update.
    • There is no stand‑alone installer for DirectX 12.

If DxDiag shows that the system meets the requirements but a game reports that DirectX 12 cannot be used, the usual causes are:

    • The game itself does not support DirectX 12 or is configured to use an earlier DirectX version in its settings.
    • The graphics hardware or its driver does not support the DirectX 12 feature level required by the game, even though Windows includes DirectX 12.

    To proceed:

    1. Make sure Windows 10 is fully updated via Windows Update (this is the only way to update DirectX 12).
    2. Update the graphics driver from the GPU vendor.
    3. Check the game’s graphics/settings menu for an option to select DirectX 12 and enable it if available.
    4. If the game still refuses to use DirectX 12, verify the game’s own minimum GPU/feature‑level requirements.
