Press WIN + X and open terminal as admin, now type (if you want, create a restore point first)

restart windows, then again from terminal as admin type

DISM /Online /Remove-Capability /CapabilityName:App.WirelessDisplay.Connect~~~~0.0.1.0

now type

DISM /Online /Add-Capability /CapabilityName:App.WirelessDisplay.Connect~~~~0.0.1.0

To project a phone screen to a Windows 11 laptop, install the Wireless Display feature and then use the Wireless Display app.

Follow these steps on the Windows 11 PC (the device to project to):

1. Open Start > Settings > System > Projecting to this PC.
2. Under Add the “Wireless Display” optional feature to project to this PC, select Optional features.
3. Next to Add an optional feature, select View features, then type wireless display.
4. Select the check box next to Wireless Display, select Next, then select Install.
5. When installation finishes, go back to Settings > System > Projecting to this PC to review and adjust projection preferences (for example, when this PC is available and whether to require permission).
6. Launch the Wireless Display app by typing wireless display in the taskbar search box and selecting Wireless Display from the results.

Then, on the phone (the device to project from):

1. Open the phone’s screen mirroring / cast settings (often called Cast, Smart View, Screen Mirroring, or similar).
2. Make sure Wi‑Fi is turned on on both the phone and the PC.
3. In the phone’s cast menu, select the Windows 11 PC name (it should appear once the Wireless Display app is running).
4. Accept any connection prompts on the PC.

If the PC does not appear as a target:

• Confirm Wi‑Fi is enabled on the PC (use the Network icon on the taskbar).
• Ensure the Wireless Display app is installed and running as described above.
• On the PC, verify Settings > System > Projecting to this PC is configured so the device can be discovered.

There is no alternative built‑in method for Miracast projection without installing the Wireless Display optional feature; it is required for using the PC as a wireless display.
