Update from Windows 10 to Windows 11

Download the installation assistant tool, and run it and upgrade it from there.

To update an HP Pavilion with Intel Core i7 from Windows 10 to Windows 11, follow these steps:

1. Confirm eligibility
   1. Make sure the device is running a currently supported version of Windows 10.
   2. Check that the hardware meets the minimum requirements for Windows 11 by either:
      • Downloading and running the PC Health Check app: Download the PC Health Check app.
      • Or reviewing the minimum specs here: Find Windows 11 specs, features, and computer requirements.
2. Check if Windows 11 is offered via Windows Update (recommended method)
   1. Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
   2. Select Check for updates.
   3. Install any pending Windows 10 updates, restart if required, then check again.
   4. If Windows 11 is ready for the device, a message such as Windows 11 is ready or similar appears.
   5. Select Download and install.
   6. Review and accept the Software License Terms, then select Accept and install.
   7. Wait while the download and installation progress shows in Status.
   8. When Restart required / Pending restart appears, select Restart now to complete the upgrade. The PC will restart several times.
   9. Sign in when the Windows 11 sign-on screen appears.
3. Alternative: Use Windows 11 Installation Assistant (if Windows Update does not offer Windows 11 yet)
   1. Download the Windows 11 Installation Assistant from: Windows 11 Installation Assistant.
   2. Run the tool. Depending on what it detects, it will:
      • Offer Install Windows 11 if the device meets requirements. Select Accept and install, then restart when prompted and let setup complete.
      • Or ask to Use the PC Health Check app to check compatibility. Run PC Health Check, then return and select Refresh.
      • If it shows This PC doesn't meet the minimum system requirements, the device cannot be upgraded to Windows 11 and should remain on Windows 10.
4. Files and apps
   • The default upgrade path keeps personal files and apps, but important data should be backed up first (for example, to OneDrive) before starting the upgrade.
