Error 503 indicates that the service is temporarily unavailable on the server side rather than an issue with the local browser. Because it has been happening for about a week and across both Chrome and Edge, the most likely causes are:
- A temporary service or throttling issue on the OneDrive/SharePoint backend.
- A broader Microsoft 365 service problem affecting OneDrive access.
Take these steps:
- If this affects multiple users or devices, sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center and check the Service Health Dashboard for any active incidents related to OneDrive or SharePoint. If there is an incident, wait for Microsoft to resolve it.
- If you see messages like “Server is busy”, “503”, or “You are now in line to access this site”, do not keep refreshing the page. The waiting-room mechanism automatically retries and refreshing can delay access further.
- If the issue is only on one machine, flush the local DNS cache in Windows in case of stale DNS entries:
- Select Start.
- Type cmd and open Command Prompt.
- Run:
ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
- Close the window and try opening OneDrive again.
- If the problem persists for more than a short period and no incident is shown in Service Health, contact Microsoft technical support for OneDrive/SharePoint so they can check for backend throttling or service issues on the tenant.
