Why did the Edge product team decide to remove the color wheel for theme color selection?

I noticed that in the newest build the color wheel for the theme selection has turned into a linear color selector without the ability to adjust the variation of dark/white adjustments - or make the 'dark' theme a bit darker.

Is this a permanent change - is there a way to modify this in anyway?

There is currently no method or setting to undo that new change to the color selector the Edge developers have added to the new update to the Edge browser, they may add a setting for that in a future update, but for now, it is not possible, the best option may be to press Alt + Shift + i to open the Edge feedback panel and suggest to the Edge developers there they provide that as an option in Edge.
