Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Answers to questions. 1--Microsoft website 2--Office Home 20243-- No, I see Microsoft 365 try for free My account shows my outlook.com email BUT the purchase of Office Home 2024 was made on googlemail.com which has a different password. I keep accounts of a golf society which means that at the moment I cannot access Word or Excel applications. In other words I am stuck, and very frustrated. For information - As mentioned before I trashed the Home Office 2024 application on my other computer. The computer I am on now is macOS Monterey, the other computer was macOS Ventura and it was very, very slow.
Thank you for explaining everything clearly. I understand why you are frustrated, especially since you rely on Word and Excel for your golf society accounts.
Based on everything you shared, there appear to be two separate issues here:
- The Office Home 2024 license is likely tied to the googlemail.com Microsoft account used during the purchase, not the outlook.com account currently signed in.
- Your current Mac is running macOS Monterey, and Microsoft has recently reduced support for older macOS versions.
I checked the latest Microsoft information. Microsoft now states that newer Office 2024 installs for Mac require newer macOS versions, and Monterey is no longer fully supported for current Office 2024 releases.
That would explain why you only see “Microsoft 365 Try for Free”. Office Home 2024 is not appearing properly under Services & subscriptions, installation/activation may fail on Monterey
Also, deleting Office from the old Mac does NOT remove the license itself. The license should still exist on the Microsoft account that originally redeemed Office Home 2024.
At this point, I would suggest these steps:
- Open a Private/Incognito browser window.
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services
- Sign in directly with the googlemail.com account and password used when purchasing Office Home 2024.
- Check if Office Home 2024 appears there.
If it does appear, try installing it from there, however, Monterey itself may block the latest installer
Can you also confirm:
- What exact Mac model are you using now?
- Is Monterey the highest macOS version that Mac can support?
If the Mac cannot upgrade beyond Monterey, we may need to look at either, installing an older compatible Office build, or using the free web apps temporarily at https://www.office.com so you can continue your golf society work while sorting this out.
