Feature update rollback only happening on Lenovo laptops

Dear support, We recently started deploying Windows 11 24H2 using Windows Update for Business across roughly 400 endpoints. Dell and HP devices upgraded successfully, but almost every Lenovo machine rolls back during the second reboot phase. The rollback happens without a visible error for users. Event Viewer only logs generic setup rollback messages. Before escalating this to Lenovo, I wanted to ask whether anyone has seen vendor-specific failures tied to WUfB feature deployments. Any reply would be appreciated!

Hello Rohan Joshi,

The fact that nearly all Lenovo laptops roll back during the 24H2 upgrade while Dell and HP succeed usually points to vendor‑specific drivers or firmware. Windows Update for Business relies on the standard driver catalog, so if Lenovo BIOS, storage, or chipset drivers aren’t fully aligned with 24H2 requirements, the setup engine will trigger a rollback without a clear error.

The best next step is to update Lenovo devices with the latest BIOS and critical drivers from Lenovo Vantage or the Lenovo Support site before retrying the feature update. It’s also worth running SetupDiag on one of the affected machines to confirm whether a driver block or compatibility flag is logged. If updates still fail, consider pausing deployment for Lenovo endpoints and testing a pilot group after applying the newest firmware.
