The other responses you've gotten show that knowledgeable users of Word don't recognize "IMG PDF" as anything they've ever seen (and I agree). That's why you're being asked for a screenshot.

On a guess, if the object appears in what should be a blank document when you open Word without specifying an existing document, then it's probably coming from your Normal.dotm template. You can edit that template to remove the object, or delete the template and let Word create a new one. For details, see http://wordfaqs.ssbarnhill.com/BlankDocNotBlank.htm.

Please clarify what you see in Word, specifically. "IMG PDF" does not tell us much. Are you maybe referring to an embedded or linked PDF in a Word document?

A screen shot may help us diagnose the issue, as Sumit has already proposed.

    Hi,

Your question is a bit unclear. Could you please describe the issue? A screenshot will be awesome!

To attach a screenshot, see below:

    • Press Windows key + Shift + S together on the keyboard. The screen will dim with overlay. Drag the pointer to take a screenshot.
    • The screenshot will be copied to the clipboard. Please press Ctrl+V in the editor to paste it, then confirm to attach the image.

Alternatively, you can press the PrtScn key on the keyboard, if it exists, to directly copy the Entire screen, which you can paste using CTRL+V.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

    Thanks, Ray for getting back.

Our VM Jay has provided some good instructions for the troubleshooting. Alongside, please try this:

    • Open the document in Word.
    • Press Ctrl+H.
    • In Find what, type ^g.
    • Leave Replace with blank.
    • Click Replace All. This removes graphics that Word can find in the main document.
    • If some still remain, go to Layout > Selection Pane, select the items, and press Delete.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

In Word, images inside a PDF that is opened for editing often appear as a single “IMG” object or as an image-based page. These are not separate “IMG PDF documents” but the way Word represents content it cannot convert to editable text.

To stop or remove these image-based PDF pages in Word:

    1. Open the PDF in Word using File > Open and let Word convert it.
    2. In the converted Word document, click once on the image/page labeled as an image (the “IMG” content).
    3. Press Delete on the keyboard to remove it.
    4. Repeat for any other unwanted image-based pages.

If the goal is to avoid this behavior entirely and just view PDFs instead of editing them, open the PDF directly in a PDF reader (for example, by double-clicking it in File Explorer) instead of opening it in Word. Word’s PDF conversion is best for mostly text-based PDFs; PDFs that are mostly graphics or scanned pages will show up as images that cannot be edited as normal text.
