Azure OpenAI Realtime GPT-2 model/resource in Australia

Hi

We are currently using Azure services in the Australia East region.

However, we are unable to deploy the Azure OpenAI Realtime GPT-2 model/resource in the Australia East region. Is this resource is available for deployment within Australia?

gpt-realtime-2 does not look available for deployment in Australia East right now. Use the model catalog and region availability page as source of truth, because Realtime model availability is region and deployment-type specific. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/foundry/foundry-models/concepts/models-sold-directly-by-azure

The older realtime model gpt-4o-realtime-preview was documented for global deployments in East US 2 and Sweden Central, not Australia East. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/foundry-classic/openai/whats-new

For gpt-realtime-2, the catalog confirms the model exists, but deployment still depends on which regions Microsoft has enabled for that model and deployment type. https://ai.azure.com/catalog/models/gpt-realtime-2 So if Australia data residency is required, the honest answer is check the Foundry model catalog from ur subscription in Australia East, and if gpt-realtime-2 is not offered there, u cannot force deploy it. Open Azure support or request model availability in Australia East. If residency is not mandatory, deploy in a supported region like East US 2 or Sweden Central if available in ur tenant.

The Azure OpenAI realtime model family is not available in Australia East.

For global standard deployments in Asia Pacific, you have these realtime models:

  • gpt-realtime

gpt-realtime-1.5

gpt-realtime-2

gpt-realtime-mini

gpt-realtime-translate

gpt-realtime-whisper

but they are marked not available in australiaeast and available only in southindia in the Asia Pacific section.

For standard or regional deployments, Australia East currently lists models such as gpt-4.1-mini, gpt-4o and embeddings, but no realtime models.
