I've been using the Fingerprint option to sign in to my laptop for over 2 years already. But for some reason, I can't use it anymore and you are saying its just looks familiar. I already updated my laptop but not helping at all.

Try these steps in order on the Windows 11 laptop:

    1. Clean the fingerprint sensor
    • Gently wipe the fingerprint reader with a lint‑free cloth so it is clean and dry.
    • Do not use glass cleaner or other cleaning chemicals on the sensor.
    1. Check how the finger is used
    • Use the same finger that was originally registered.
    • Make sure the finger is clean and dry.
    • Place the finger flat in the middle of the sensor or Fingerprint Power Button, cover a larger area of the finger, apply light pressure, and try not to move while it is being read.
    • If the finger has a scar or other damage now, use a different finger when re‑registering.
    1. Sign in with PIN or password, then re‑register fingerprints
    • Sign in using PIN or password instead of fingerprint.
    • Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign‑in options.
    • Under Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello):
      • First try Add another (or Add a finger) and follow the steps, slightly changing finger position so different angles are captured.
      • If that does not help, select Remove, then set it up again with Set up.
    • Register more than one fingerprint so there is a backup.
    1. Check for driver and system issues
    • In Settings > Windows Update, confirm all updates (including drivers and firmware) are installed.
    • If fingerprint still does not work and it was working before, a recent app, driver, or update may be causing the problem. Consider a restore or reset of the PC if other options fail, as described in the Surface/Windows reset guidance.

If none of these steps restore fingerprint sign‑in, continue using PIN/password and consider contacting device support, as the fingerprint hardware may be failing.
