How to remove an xbox account

Use the account and device settings to remove that Xbox/Microsoft account, depending on where it appears.

1. If the account is on the Windows device itself
   1. Open the Settings app.
   2. Go to Accounts > Other users (or use this shortcut: Other Users).
   3. Under Other users, select the flyout for the account that is not yours.
   4. Next to Account and data, select Remove.
   This removes that user’s sign-in information and data from the device, but does not delete the person’s Microsoft/Xbox account.
2. If the account is connected as a work or school account
   1. Open Settings.
   2. Go to Accounts > Access work or school (or use this shortcut: Access work or school).
   3. Select the dropdown next to the unwanted account and select Disconnect.
   4. Select Yes to confirm.
3. If the Xbox account is tied to the device in the Microsoft account device list
   1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices and sign in with the correct Microsoft account.
   2. Find the device and select Show details.
   3. Under the device name, select More actions > Remove.
   4. Check I'm ready to remove this device, then select Remove.
   5. If needed, also select Unlink for that device so it no longer counts toward the Microsoft Store device limit.

If the Xbox account itself is someone else’s, removing it from the device and signing in with the correct Microsoft account will prevent it from appearing in the profile while leaving the other person’s Xbox account intact.
