Hello everyone,
I'm seeing a lot of posts about redeemed Minecraft capes not appearing in-game.
If your situation matches the common case — you redeemed a promotional cape (Home Cape, Builder Cape, etc.) on the Minecraft site, it's confirmed on your account, but it's not showing up in Minecraft: Java Edition — then this is actually expected behavior. Promotional capes land in Bedrock's Dressing Room first, and you have to manually select the cape in Java's skin editor for it to appear there.
Reference: Activate Promotional Capes and Character Creator Items on Your Minecraft: Java Edition Profile
Try this:
- Open Minecraft: Bedrock Edition > go to the Dressing Room and confirm the cape is there
- Exit Bedrock, then open Minecraft: Java Edition
- Go to Skins > highlight your current skin
- Select … > Edit > pick the cape > Save & Use
- Close and restart Java Edition
It should render in-game after the restart. If it doesn't show up right after redemption, there's sometimes a short sync delay (community reports up to ~24h) before the cape becomes selectable in Java's editor.
If it's still missing after that, cape/skin sync issues are handled by Mojang's team, so Minecraft Support would be the right next stop.
