Sole Global Administrator locked out due to MFA - unable to reach support

I am the sole Global Administrator of a Microsoft 365 Business tenant and I am completely locked out due to an MFA verification issue.

The administrator account can no longer complete MFA verification and I cannot access the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

I have already tried:

  • Microsoft Support chat
  • Microsoft support phone numbers
  • Account recovery options
  • Alternative sign-in methods

I contacted Microsoft Support on June 3 and was informed that I would receive a callback within 24 hours. No callback was received.

I have also called Microsoft support multiple times. The automated phone system asks for my tenant information but ultimately determines that I am not an administrator and disconnects the call, even though I am the only Global Administrator.

I was also referred to Microsoft Business Support by another support channel, but I am unable to create a support case because I cannot sign in.

There are no other Global Administrators in the tenant.

This is a paid Microsoft 365 subscription, and I can provide billing information, proof of domain ownership and any other information required to verify ownership of the tenant.

The issue has now been ongoing for several days and is affecting business operations.

Could a Microsoft moderator please advise the correct escalation path for a sole Global Administrator MFA lockout when the standard support channels are inaccessible?

Thank you.

Hello Ida Johanne Bjørkmo,

The issue pertains to a tenant lockout, where no other global admin in the tenant has the necessary permissions to login and make changes in your tenant.

To resolve this, we have engaged our Data Protection team through a support ticket. They will reach out to you via email or phone to help restore access to the tenant and assist in resolving the issue.
