I have been trying to set up MY E5 subscription in my Microsoft 365 Develepor program account and it will not accept any phone numbers for the verification when setting up the sandbox.

We can't continue with the signup process for the following reason:

  • Your phone number did not pass security checks.

MS-CorrelationId: 00000000-29ae-47e7-8e96-60ed682b094a

Code: 40321

I have tried chatting with support and they were able to verify that my phone number should work. I also tried 5 different US phone numbers and one from Spain. It seems to be a common issue with many post on here but no solutions.

For anyone in the future, make sure you are on a proper internet connection. I was trying on a 4g hot spot and mobile and it never worked. First time I tried on a WiFi/fiber connection it worked using the same number. I

After suffering from this, (fortunately it's just several days.) today I manage to validate my phone number.

It's not about your phone number, it's just about network connection.

If you could not make it with your WiFi or Internet, pls try it with LTE/5G via mobile. - or you might be in revert situation.

Still it's painful but you might not waste more time of your valuable life.

It's hard to say wether or not this is the reason that my issue resolved but I realized that I had not enabled multi-factor authentication in my org settings for my email account (M365 Business Basic). It worked on first try after changing that setting after days of trying.

Could be a coincidence but worth a try if you haven't already done so and use a Microsoft 365 env for your business.
