App Password for scanning to email from MFP

We have been utilizing an MFP for scanning to email through our Office 365 with Microsoft. The user account we are authenticating from has had MFA enforced for a long time. We created an APP password to be utilized in the MFP because it does not support Multi Form Authentication. This has worked without any issues for a year now. However, around July 15 2023 Microsoft must have changed something because the app passwords no longer work. We have tried creating a new app password without luck. This problem is not isolated to just one MFP on our network as we have many that authenticate as different users all using app passwords. They all stopped authenticating with Office 365 at the same time. Therefore, it must be a system-wide change that has caused this issue. I checked the sign-in logs in Azure and it states that an incorrect username or password was used when authenticating. However, this must be a generic "problem description" from Microsoft as one we did not change the username and password on the MFP or in Office 365 from when they worked to when they stopped. Also, in troubleshooting the issue by creating a new app password, we used the copy-and-paste function to take it directly from Office 365 to the MFP.

We created a technical support case with Microsoft yesterday but they were not able to determine the issue.

    Hi @Brad Blackmon

Have you done some recent changes on basic authentication for the affected mailboxes or on tenant level?

For example, enabled Azure security defaults or created a conditional access policy for the mailboxes which blocks basic auth.

If yes, since app password needs basic authentication to work, you may need to disable Azure security defaults or exclude the mailboxes from the conditional access policy to allow basic auth.
