    Hi Nizer,

Issue reported: We had default Office applications on a machine, we accidentally performed a reset on a Windows machine and now we can’t access Office applications. When we try to open files, it shows that ‘WORD.EXE’ shortcut has been changed or moved, we can’t access shortcuts and created files.

Note: [If our understanding of the issue is different, kindly update on this thread]

Observation: It appears that you received Office applications as default applications when this machine was purchased. Those type of Office licenses are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Licenses. In such scenarios, we must contact the manufacturer and ask for a product key (License) associated with the machine’s contract. Once you contact the Manufacturer and obtain the Office license, please follow a below mentioned troubleshooting to restore office applications.

Troubleshooting: We first need to remove dead shortcuts from your machine and validate if we have no Office application installed in the machine. We can then install Office applications using below mentioned resources.

Exception: There are other licenses, called digital licenses, which are directly purchased from Microsoft or from the Microsoft’s authorized channel. Such licenses can be retrieved if you sign into your Microsoft account online and access your services and subscriptions using the links mentioned above.

    Please update with your findings.

    Thanks!

You will have to reinstall Office. In most cases, you can do that from your associated account at https://account.microsoft.com/services.
