Windows fax and scan missing

If Windows Fax and Scan does not appear when trying to enable it from Windows Features, install it as an Optional feature instead:

1. Open Settings.
2. Go to System > Optional features.
3. Select View features.
4. Search for fax.
5. Select Windows Fax and Scan.
6. Select Next, then Install.

If the goal is only to scan documents and Windows Fax and Scan is still unavailable, use the Windows Scan app:

1. Right-click Start and select Search.
2. Type Windows Scan.
3. Select Scan from the results.
4. If it is not installed, install Windows Scan from the Microsoft Store.

To confirm that Windows detects the scanner:

1. Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
2. Verify that the scanner is listed.
3. If it is part of a multifunction printer, select the printer, then Manage, and check whether a menu item begins with Scanner:.
