Powerpoint and Excel do not Connect to Canon 3070

I previously posted a question titled "ARM Surface issues". However, just today, I mistakenly printed a JPEG file open in Photos and I noticed that the print was almost instantly sent to the printer. No communication issues at all.

I was also working on PowerPoint. Therefore, I tried to print a page on the same printer, using the very same computer, from PowerPoint but the software was unable to connect to the printer still after 3 minutes I entered the command.

I closed PowerPoint and I opened a document in Word. When I tried to print the document, Word instantly recognized the printer.

I tried the same thing with a very light Excel file and, like with PowerPoint, the software could not communicate to the printer within a reasonable amount of time. We are talking about minutes. The whole time it took to write this question.

As of now the attached image is what is shown in my print prompt.

I don't know if any other Office 365 component has issues connecting to the printer. But my PowerPoint and Excel definitely have. And strangely enough, other components such as Photos and Word don't.

But if I want to print form PowerPoint, I have to delete the printer and add it back to my Surface every time the I turn the printer on.

    Hi @Andrea GG

    Make sure your Office is fully updated by going into any Office app, then go to Account then click on Update Options and choose Update Now.

    If your using a vendor (manufacturer) driver, try using the Windows generic printer driver, go to Device Manager, expand Devices and Printers, Right-click your printer and select Printer Properties, go to Advanced tab and under Driver, click New Driver, in the Wizard, select Microsoft IPP Class Driver or Generic PCL Driver. These drivers are lightweight and often more compatible with ARM Office apps.

    Alternatively, in the same Advanced tab, set "Print directly to printer" instead of "Spool print documents".

    If none of this work, try going to Settings > Apps, then:

    • If you installed the full Microsoft 365 suite, search Microsoft 365, click on the 3 dots > Advanced options > Repair
    • If you installed office, it usually displays as Office, so proceed with the same for Microsoft 365.
    • or search PowerPoint, click on the 3 dots > Advanced options > Repair.
    • Do the same for Excel
