Hello,

I need to install Windows 10 1909 feature update on 20+ unmanaged computers. Is there a way to download it once so I can save it to a USB and install on all the computers manually? They have a slow link and if I have to download it on each computer it will take forever. It needs to be 1909, there is some issue with 2004 that I don't have time to troubleshoot. I went to update catalog and media creation tool but couldn't find it.

Hi,

If you need Windows 10 1909 feature update, we need to download package KB4517245. However the package is not available to download from Windows Catalog Update. Microsoft have deleted it from Windows Update Catalog since is was replaced by the latest version Windows 10 2004.

I would not recommend to download from third party website even though they have saved KB4517245, but we can't sure if it will bring any security risk or insert any virus software into this package.

I noticed you want to update multiple computers to Windows 10 1909. I would recommend to use Windows 10 1909 ISO image to upgrade system. If you have subscription for Volume Licensing Service Center, we could download Windows 10 1909 ISO from there.

After that, we could perform in-place upgrade on multiple devices with MDT. In-place upgrade will not affect system configuration and personal data.

I don't have time to setup MDT and even if I did none of these computers are on a domain. They're all on a separate network and am not going to waste time setting up a whole new domain and MDT. The computers will remain unpatched. Microsoft has once again made a stupid decision that will compromise security.

Hi Joe,

I know you're not happy with the way things have turned out, but it's a real reality. If we need to manage those computers more efficient in the future, spend time to setup a domain environment is necessary which can associate devices in different location, different network. Also for management those device such as update, upgrade, deploy and so on, management tool is also necessary to make work more efficient.

But if you are not prefer to use them, the measure we could do is update them one by one. Or we could create a script to execute it on each device to complete update action.

Hello,

Microsoft no longer offers V1909 ISO on the official ISO download page. In case if you've Visual Studio subscription, you can still download the V1909 ISO file from there.

Perhaps I was not clear. I do not need Windows 10 1909 ISO, I just need the feature update. All the computers are currently running Windows 10 1803, three are running 1703. I just need to update them to 1909 and don't want to waste time downloading the update 20+ times. I'm assuming there is an executable I can just download on one computers then just copy to the others. But I don't know where I can download that from.

I would recommend downloading the ISO for vers 1909 and doing an in-place upgrade for each machine.

Another option is with the Rufus utility which is used to prepare bootable USB installation drives. Recent versions have a function to download any of the Windows 10 versions as iso files. It is claimed that these are genuine retail iso files downloaded from the Microsoft servers.

There is an executable. It is setup.exe and is found in the iso file together with all the other files needed for an installation of Windows 10. That is because a Feature Update is a new installation which preserves your data, programs and settings.

1909 is slightly different because it is a small online update of 1903 - if you have 1903 installed. None of your machines do so you need the full 1909 iso.
