How do I fix my laptop minimization preview issue? I can't full-screen preview (temporary maximize) minimized icons by hovering the cursor over minimized app icons from my taskbar as I used to.

I do not have a problem with minimizing and maximizing applications using alt tab, or the minimize, maximize button, instead, my full screen preview doesn't come up when I hover the cursor around minimized app icons on the task bar.

I can't switch between minimized apps by previewing their full screen when I hover the cursor over the minimized app icons (or the small-screen preview icon) from the task bar.

Imagine working on multiple Microsoft word documents which are all minimized, and you want to place the cursor over the icons of the minimized documents so it brings out a full screen preview of a document you want to look at. Once you remove the cursor from the minimized icon (or the small-screen preview icon), you are back at the original document you're working on. This is the normal way it works even in other laptops I have compared with, but recently I've been unable to work that way and need to take the cursor to each minimized window, and click to maximize cause the full screen preview doesn't come up. Then I'll have to go back and click the previous app again.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with the full screen preview when hovering over minimized app icons on the taskbar in Windows. This feature is known as "Aero Peek." If Aero Peek is not working as expected, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Aero Peek Settings: Ensure that the Aero Peek feature is enabled in your Windows settings. Here's how:

    • Right-click on the Windows taskbar.
    • Select "Taskbar settings."
    • Under the "Multiple displays" section, make sure "Peek at desktop" is turned on.

Enable Visual Effects: Aero Peek requires certain visual effects to be enabled. Make sure that your computer is set to use visual effects. To check and enable these effects:

    • Right-click on the "This PC" or "Computer" icon on your desktop.
    • Select "Properties."
    • Click on "Advanced system settings."
    • Under the "Performance" section, click on "Settings."
    • Ensure that "Adjust for best appearance" is selected.

Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can sometimes cause issues with Aero Peek. Update your graphics drivers to the latest version provided by your graphics card manufacturer.

Restart Windows Explorer: Sometimes, restarting the Windows Explorer process can resolve graphical glitches. To do this:

    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
    • Locate "Windows Explorer" in the list of processes.
    • Right-click on "Windows Explorer" and select "Restart."

Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date. Windows updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can address such issues.

    1. Check for Third-Party Software Conflicts: Certain third-party software or utilities can interfere with Aero Peek. Try temporarily disabling or uninstalling third-party software to see if it resolves the issue.

Run Windows Troubleshooters: Windows includes built-in troubleshooters that can help identify and fix common issues. You can run the "Hardware and Devices" troubleshooter or the "Windows Store Apps" troubleshooter.

Perform a System File Check: Run the System File Checker tool to scan and repair any corrupted system files that might be causing the issue.

    • Open a Command Prompt as an administrator.
    • Enter the command: sfc /scannow
    • Allow the process to complete and follow any on-screen instructions.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you may want to consider reaching out to Microsoft Support or seeking assistance from a technical expert who can diagnose and fix the problem
