How to update the icon of a shortcut?

Hi,

Hope you are asking in Windows 10. Just try the below steps.

Locate the shortcut.

Right-click the shortcut and select "Properties."

Go to the "Shortcut" tab.

Click "Change Icon."

Choose an icon from the list or browse for a custom icon file.

Select the icon and click "OK" or "Apply."

Confirm changes in the Properties window.

Close the Properties window.

Check the shortcut for the updated icon.

ummmmmmmm, when i try it just says "filename.ico has no icons in it"

Hi

You can update the icon of a shortcut by right-clicking on the shortcut and selecting "Properties". Then, click on the "Change Icon" button and select the new icon you want to use.

This does not work for all Icons. The shortcut I am trying to assign an icon to has the Change Icon option grayed out.
