Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic keyboard Turns off itself

Symptoms. Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard turns off itself after few seconds of inactivity. Mouse remains working no issues with the mouse.
Troubleshooting already tried: Changed batteries, turned off the power saving feature on all usb and hid input devices to see if that may be an issue. Nothing worked.
Connected to different pcs laptop and desktop with different OS versions as well problem remains the same.

Typing this question with the problematic keyboard.
Seems like a hardware issue Checked the warranty booklet it says standard warranty is 3 years but I have lost my receipt of purchase. I still have the keyboard box and its packings.

Please guide me what else I can try or how can i claim this under warranty.

@Bilal I've experienced the same issue with my Sculpt Keyboard, in fact this is my SECOND Sculpt Keyboard with the SAME issue. I take the batteries out and put them back in and it works for a few minutes, then stops again. I've replaced the batteries, I've updated drivers, I've unistalled and reinstalled drivers, and nothing seems to work. Were you able to find a solution?

This seems to be a common issue. The reason may be that one of the top row buttons is stuck in a pressed down position (F1-F12, PrintScreen, ScrollLockm, Pause...). Those buttons are poorly designed and it may not even be visible that one of them is stuck, it may be just a bit tilted. If you have this issue, try checking and unstucking.

Wow Jiří, I don’t know how you discovered those tiny keys getting stuck, but I took your advice and that was it! Man, I had tried EVERYTHING else to no avail!

Thank you so much. That was exactly the problem. One of the keys in the upper row got stuck. Almost not visible.

If your keyboard turns off, try to push every key once. Sometimes two or more keys are stuck (happened when I had my keyboard in my notebook bag). You will notice if a key gets unstuck. Your keyboard will work again instantly without removing the batteries as soon as all keys are unstuck.

Thank you, Jiri! This was my issue - a stuck key that I really couldn't see. It was just tilted a bit like you said.

I am typing this from a formerly useless Sculpt wireless keyboard - Thank you for this suggestion!! I tried everything: batteries, drivers, reinstallation - but every time the keyboard would work for a few seconds and then the moment that I stopped typing for 30 seconds or so, it would shut off and become useless again. This was exactly the issue. I don't know exactly which top row key was stuck (I was hitting them all one by one in succession) but I think it was F6 or F5 because suddenly my screen started to jump around this point. I was so bummed that Microsoft decided to stop making the Sculpt keyboard and I couldn't find a good replacement. You saved me money and more frustration. Thanks again!

Thank you. For me it was the PrtScn key. It was almost imperceptible, but it was a little bit depressed and jiggling it free fixed my problem!

This was the exact issue! I've seen so many people commenting that they can't figure it out, I'm assuming this is the probably the issue for most.
