The server is Windows 2022 and it's a hyper-v host. I'm trying to backup some hosted VMs to my Azure vault. I have downloaded the vault creds and installed the MARS agent.
When registering the server, I'm getting a 130001 error. all the posts suggest proxy firewall or AV. I have exhaustively made sure it is not a proxy\firewall issue and there is no AV on the server, so I'm at a loss.
Anyone got anything on this?

I understand that you are trying to register a server and blocked with an error 130001.
Few things to note:
To prevent errors during vault registration, ensure that the MARS agent version 2.0.9249.0 or above is installed. If not, we recommend you to install it from here.
If you have a firewall/proxy server, work with your networking team to allow access to the following FQDNs and public IP addresses. Access to all of the URLs and IP addresses listed below uses the HTTPS protocol on port 443.

*.windowsazure.com
*.microsoftonline.com
*.windows.net
*blob.core.windows.net
*queue.core.windows.net
*blob.storage.azure.net
If you don't have a proxy server, ensure the proxy option isn't selected when you register the agent. Check your proxy settings.
Ensure your server is running on TLS 1.2.
Restart the MARS agent service: Try restarting the MARS agent service and then try registering the agent again.

This type of error can happen when the MARS agent is unable to connect to Azure Backup service for various reasons. Check the logs from the MARS agent located at %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent\Temp\WABackup_[timestamp].log to see if you can identify the root cause.
First thing is check that you're running the latest MARS agent. If things point to a registration failure, ensure that the credentials used to register the server with Azure Backup are correct. You can verify the creds by running Get-OBMachineSetting -Source <ComputerName>.
Check to see if any new files are being created in %systemdrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys folder. If nothing is there, retry the process with procmon running, filtering with result = ACCESS DENIED searching for ACCESS DENIED events on “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18” for cbengine.exe. If seeing some results, then try lowering user access control setting on the VM to the lowest level.

I installed a MABS server.
Built a storage pool.
Pushed the backup agent to the servers in question.
Completed my backups.
