I purchased a domain yesterday using Azure app service Domain service. I see a new DNS zone for my purchased domain but when I open the App service Domain page for my domain, it shows "Not Found". I also checked whois and don't see my domain registered. Any troubleshooting tips?

@Hitesh Sharma I have put together a few items to try below. Please go through them and reply to this message if you are still having trouble.

    1. Wait for 72 hours: If you have purchased your domain recently, it can take up to 72 hours for the domain to be registered and become visible in the WHOIS database. Please wait for some more time and check again later.
      1. Verify your domain: To verify your domain, follow these steps:

    a. Go to the "Custom domains" section of your App Service app in the Azure portal. b. Click on the "Add custom domain" button. c. Enter your domain name and click on the "Add domain" button. d. In the "Custom domain name" section, you will see either TXT or MX information. You must add this information to the DNS settings of your domain registrar. e. Go to your domain registrar and enter either the TXT or the MX information in the DNS settings for your domain. f. After you have added the TXT or MX record to your domain's DNS configuration, go back to the "Custom domains" section of your App Service app in the Azure portal. g. Click on the "Verify" button next to your domain name. h. Wait for the verification process to complete. This can take up to 24 hours.

    1. Check your DNS settings: To check your DNS settings, follow these steps: a. Go to the DNS zone for your domain in the Azure portal. b. Check if the DNS settings are correctly configured and that they match the DNS settings provided by your domain registrar. c. If the DNS settings are not correctly configured, update them to match the DNS settings provided by your domain registrar. If these steps still do not work and you hit the 72-hour mark, I would suggest creating a free billing ticket to have them verify if the purchase was successful. You can do that by going here.

The domain registration process incorporates a grace period of five days immediately following registration, allowing the registrant a window within which they can request a refund of their registration fee. This grace period can be likened to a return policy for a product, wherein the registrant is entitled to a full refund of their payment.

It's essential to delve into the details outlined in the blog post titled "Understanding the Domain Life Cycle," as it may hold the key to addressing the issue at hand. The problem you are currently encountering could potentially be linked to this grace period feature. Domains have the potential to be reversed or canceled for various reasons during this period, and registrants are eligible for a full refund of their registration fee.

Once you have completed the domain registration process, it is advisable to inspect the WHOIS record of the registered domain using a WHOIS lookup .This will provide you with comprehensive information about the domain's registrant, aiding in the verification and management of the domain.

Subsequently, following the creation of DNS records, it is crucial to perform a DNS lookup to ensure the accuracy and functionality of the domain's DNS settings. This step is essential to verify that the domain's online presence is correctly configured and operational.
