I conduct eDiscovery searches in Office 365 for public records searches in email, sites and related storage.

I am looking for something that operates in a similar manner for keyword searches across a network of shared drives, folders and storage pools for files and documents.

We are currently running server 2012, and are in the process of upgrading to Server 2022 on a mix of windows 10 and windows 11 desktops

I want to be able to document searches and results for litigation.

    Hello Ross Lampky,

Yes, there are eDiscovery and file search solutions available for searching network shares, files, folders, and their content based on keywords. These solutions can help organizations with legal and compliance requirements, including the ability to document searches and results for litigation purposes.

Personally I would recommend Microsoft 365 Compliance Center:

If your organization is using Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), the Compliance Center includes eDiscovery capabilities. It allows you to search and identify content across Microsoft 365 services, including email, SharePoint, and OneDrive. While it mainlyfocuses on cloud-based content, you can also use it for on-premises content by configuring connectors.

Other options available in the market, independantly from Microsoft, are: Nuix, Veritas Enterprise Vault, dtSearch... but they come at additional cost and setup.
