Azure map -Power BI; unable to fill 2 New Zealand Districts

I have them listed exactly the same and no fill, but all others work just fine.

Could it be that my Data Category is incorrect? I have selected County. Also tried State or Province with the same result. Should it be something else?

In my initial test I didn't set data category. I just tried setting it to county and it still worked fine. That said, since you are looking for districts, you might not want to set the data category as there are counties in NZ which might result in other locations returning the wrong area. Not really sure how to help you as I can't reproduce this issue.

Ah. I just noticed copyrights, you aren't using the Filled map visual, but the Azure Maps visual. Loading these up ,side by side I do see a difference:

In the Azure Maps visual these appear to be matching with a smaller area (Municipality). I tested one of the locations in this Azure Maps sample: https://samples.azuremaps.com/?search=boundary&sample=search-for-boundaries and found that there were two matching boundaries, a municipality and a country tertiary subdivision (third level country division, district in this case). Both are valid results and it looks like the more precision location is ranked higher in results, which is likely the root issue here.

When I change the data category to county, one of the results ends up in Ghana as there is a county there with the same name. In Power BI, there doesn't appear to be any data category for country third level divisions, so setting it to "Uncategorized" would be the most appropriate, although doesn't resolve your issue.

I think the main issue is that it appears that when two or more columns are added to the location field of the visual, they are not being used together in any way. So, the district is being queried without the country context, thus why I was seeing results in Ghana at one point. But even then, Otorohanga is both a municipality and a district in NZ, so that wouldn't even help here. Getting the Power BI team to add an additional data category might be needed. That said, I believe the boundary service used by the older filled map visual is making its way to the Azure Maps developer platform, so it's possible that Azure Maps visual may switch backend services in the future, although I think that would cause headaches in other scenarios. I'll reach out to some people in these teams to see if I can get this on their radar.

I've tried a couple of workarounds, like storing the latitude/longitude values in the data, and that didn't work (filled maps don't work with lat/lon inputs). I think the only thing I can recommend at the moment is to use the Filled Map visual, rather than the filled map layer within the Azure Maps visual.

@rbrundritt thank you! The Filled map does not show the Territorial borders but at least it fills the missing districts. I will use that map for now until a Azure catches up. I appreciate your assistance.
