Restoring or installing with an external monitor

Hi

Since I have a laptop with its screen no longer working, I connected it to an external monitor via HDMI.

If I used the full restore function of Windows 11 Enterprise or if I decided to install this OS from a USB stick, would I have some problems with the visualization during the various stages of these processes? If so, what would be the possible solutions?

Thanks

Bye

    Hello

If your laptop’s screen is not working and you’re using an external monitor, you should still be able to perform a full restore or install Windows 11 Enterprise from a USB stick. However, there might be some challenges during the process.

Here are some potential issues and their solutions:

Visualization during BIOS/UEFI settings: The BIOS/UEFI settings are typically displayed on the primary monitor (the laptop screen in your case). If the laptop screen is not working, you might not see these settings. To solve this, you can try closing your laptop lid after starting it up, which might force the laptop to use the external monitor as the primary display.

Visualization during installation: The installation process should be displayed on the external monitor if it’s connected and recognized by your system. However, if you’re not seeing anything, try checking your HDMI connection or using a different port or cable.

Drivers: If your external monitor is not being detected, it could be due to outdated or incompatible drivers. You can try updating your graphics drivers to the latest version.

Display settings: If you’re having trouble with the display on your external monitor, you can adjust the display settings in Windows 11. Go to Settings > System > Display and make sure that your external monitor is detected and set up correctly.

You may need to just try it by rebooting to see if the bios screen and boot loader are visible on external monitor before windows starts.
