Hello,

I am new to Azure and am studying Azure Fundamentals.

I keep encountering this error during the exercise : curl --connect-timeout 5 http://$IPADDRESS

curl: (7) Failed to connect to 20.245.141.5 port 80 after 2 ms: Couldn't connect to server

What's the problem?

In case it has been over an hour since you finished the prerequisite, specifically Unit 3 - Exercise - Create an Azure Virtual Machine, your VM will have been automatically removed, leading to an error in Task 1, Step 2. Ensure you fulfill the prerequisite to establish a virtual machine in Unit 3 before commencing this unit, making sure it's completed within the hour timeframe.

If the issue persists even after meeting the prerequisite, kindly leave a comment to inform us, and we'll proceed with troubleshooting.

Make sure to fulfill the prerequisite within an hour before tackling this unit to prevent the automatic deletion of your VM.

I will give that a try. I know I had to re initialize the VM for the unit 9 exercise but hopefully that is the error. I will try it again. Thank you!

Hello again, unfortunately I am still encountering errors. Now I am not able to create the Nginx server. I am getting credit for the exercises but I am not able to complete the tasks so I will try to create the Azure free trail account and see if I can complete the them that way since the practice is what matters not the credit. Or do you suggest another way?

Hi Matt Steele,

To successfully complete the exercise, kindly connect to the Linux VM recently created using SSH. Manually execute the commands from the script.

Initiate a new sandbox and proceed to create the VM as per the exercise instructions. Once Task 1 concludes, take note of the assigned public IP address (e.g., 20.245.141.5). Commence Task 2, and in the event of an error, follow the steps outlined below.

Kindly establish a connection to the recently generated VM using SSH within the cloud shell. Substitute the noted public IP address for <VM public IP address> in the following command:

ssh azureuser@<VM public IP address>

When prompted, kindly confirm by entering 'yes.'

Please execute the following commands in the Cloud Shell window by copying and right-clicking. Ensure each command completes before pasting the next one.

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install -y nginx

echo "<html><body><h2>Welcome to Azure! My name is $(hostname).</h2></body></html>" | sudo tee -a /var/www/html/index.html

Executing the steps should only marginally extend the duration of the process. Kindly proceed with the module.

And if the above steps don't work for you, can you please consider the following:

1.Experiment with the incognito browser mode.

2.Test using a different browser.

3.Try accessing the module using a distinct Outlook account.
