Block Windows 11 Upgrade via GPO

From reading the documentation this setting is supposed to prevent updating to Windows 11 but its not working as I had to roll back a bunch of devices this morning from Windows 11.

Does anyone know the settings in a GPO that are actually supposed to work?

Yes it's set to 1, like I said the settings don't seem to work.

It's also set to Windows 10 22H2 also

    Hi Peter Alliett,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Please go to below registry path to check if the registry key value has been set as below:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

TargetReleaseVersion the value is set to 1.

TargetReleaseVersionInfo is the same as before.

    Information from link below:

A newTargetReleaseVersionpolicy available inWindows 10 version 1803 and higherallows you to specify whichfeature update versionof Windows 10 you would like your computer to move to and/or stay on until the version reaches end of service or you reconfigure this policy.

If you don't update this policy before the device reaches end of service, the device will automatically be updated once it is 60 days past end of service for its version.

If you specify a TargetReleaseVersion the same as the currentversion, Windows 10 will stay on this version until it reaches end of service. This can also be useful toblock an automatic upgrade to Windows 11.

If you specify a TargetReleaseVersion higher than the currentversion, Windows 10 will directly update only to the specified version even if a higher version is available.

Have you installed the latest version of Windows?

This policy is correct, try run gpresult command to check if the policy has been applied in the clients.

In addition, try run gpupdate /force to make sure policy applied locally.

Also check and make sure you are applying the policy to the correct domain.
